No Monsters, Just Cookies
If a cookie includes oatmeal, it must be good for us right? And with peanut butter also mixed in you’ve got a dose of protein.
Don’t we all wish that were the truth?
Monster Cookies include a heaping dose of peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chips and M&M’s. And with this classic combination, how can you go wrong?
These cookies were tradition in our home growing up. Even today, mom whips up a batch any time all three of us kids and our families are home.
The recent spring snow in Colorado made me turn to the recipe box for comfort. And it didn’t take long for the hubby to request these soft, chewy cookies. Thinking back to our almost 10 years of marriage, I don’t think I’ve ever made them for him. I guess it was mom’s cookie making that made him fall in love with these treats.
While you can easily half the recipe I’ve included below, we decided to mix up the full batch and bless our neighbors with some treats. I will warn you, if you’re making the whole batch you will need a LARGE bowl!
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups white sugar2 cups brown sugar
- 6 eggs
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla
- 3 cups peanut butter
- 4 teaspoons baking soda
- 9 cups oatmeal
- 1 cup M&M’s
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Mix all the moist ingredients in a bowl. Then mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Pour the moist ingredients over the dry and mix well. Drop by the large spoonful onto parchment paper lined baking sheets. Bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees.
