As a small town girl who grew up mostly in North Dakota and then Wyoming, I discovered my passion for communications, writing, editing and design in high school upon joining the yearbook staff. Under the leadership of my trusty journalism teacher, she guided me toward a career that has brought a great deal of passion and excitement.
Alongside writing, my love of music started early in life with piano lessons, clarinet, organ and voice instruction. While the piano my grandmother purchased for me still graces my home, it was the singing that took me to a music competition at Chadron State College. Nestled along rolling hills and offering that familiar small town comfort, this college became my home for the next few years as I studied English/Journalism and vocal music. Writing internships gave me experience in newspaper and public relations, while my vocal music studies took me abroad for a vocal tour of performances throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
Upon graduation, the Colorado Rockies called and I garnered a job working in specialty publications for a daily newspaper. Promoted to editor soon after, opportunities presented me to expand publications, assist in advertising and marketing, reinvent a local magazine, manage social media and contribute to website presence. Social media quickly became my passion in both my professional and personal lives, allowing me to embark in a new direction for my career.
I transitioned out of newspaper and spent several years in local government managing communications and public relations, social media, website, event planning and community outreach. In 2017, I stepped into an exciting new roll leading communications for my local church where I get to continue my career passions with an incredible group of creative minds.
Outside of work, I’m a wife, outdoor enthusiast, landscaper, cook and dog owner. Our 100-pound chocolate lab is the world’s most spoiled dog, but we prefer it that way. You’ll often find me in the kitchen trying out new recipes, tending to the garden, or enjoying a great walk or hike with the dog and hubby.
Thanks for following my journey. Cheers!
